Ladies & gentlemen, start your reindeer...

First I write to my little one. One day you will read this and see that your dad & I have had some bumps, hiccups, road blocks on our way to you but nothing, nothing in this world will stop us from coming to you. This blog entry may the first of many that say we have a detour but know that you were loved way before you were born, you are already ours.
Alright to get you caught up this is what was on our schedule: December 1st we were to have our first meeting with a psychiatrist Dr "Bob". This is a requirement by Colombia, an evaluation that shows are stability and capability to parent. Now I've seen some individuals in the news that need parenting evaluation WAY more than Mike and I but hey its all part of the blessing of adoption so here we go. That same evening we had our LAST home study scheduled.
Now that you see what was scheduled here is our speed bump...the morning of November 27th Buddy(the culprit on the right of my blog) head butted me while we were playing. Whack right on the bridge of my nose and right then I knew it was broke, I actually heard it crack. Unfortunately with a broken nose nothing can be done until the swelling goes down so I looked like this till Wednesday (pic below). After visiting an ear, nose, and throat specialist it was confirmed not only was my septum fractured in 2 spots I also have a deviated nasal septum that they wanted to open up while they were in there. Surgery was set for the next day and since I was an add on I spent all day Thursday in the hospital. (Something interesting  surgery has to be done within 10days for insurance to cover it otherwise they consider it cosmetic.) Thankfully my mom had ties to this doctors office and I was scheduled immediately.
So, went in like this, and came out a lot worse but sorry folks no pic for that mess.

Thankfully recovery is not all that bad 8 days of rest & relaxation, and flowers made it all the better thanks to my in laws : ) However, today when I thought it was all over I had to go back in for my check up and to get the splint off. I guess my nose is not healing the "proper" way and the doctor had to reset it in his office the pain was terrible and now I feel like I'm back to square one in healing. Next Doctors visit the 15th.
Anyways back to our planned schedule that never goes as planned. The home study and psychiatrist appointments were CANCELLED!
Mike called and made all new arrangements and now the psych appointment is December 6 and the home study the 7th.
Now Christmas is almost here and decorations have been up since the weekend before Thanksgiving. We are those people who count down, well I am and I brought Mike right along with me Christmas in definitely our time of year. It doesn't hurt that we have an anniversary in December either!
Sorry this post is so long who knew all this would happen in 2 weeks time. The psych appointment was interesting to say the least and a little aggravating, understand where we are coming from we are only there to see him because we HAVE to NOT because we need counseling. Dr. Bob is taking this very seriously, which he should but come on already, we know we will make the very best parents; and come to find out Colombia is the only country that we know of so far that requires this evaluation and they look very seriously on the results. We hoped for a one time 1 hour appointment but oh no it will consist of a few sessions so he can write up his report, also a personality test will be conducted as part of the packet. Next meeting is Thursday.

Individual interviews during the home study were a breeze. I went first and then Mike came home for his each lasting about an hour. It was fun after she left  to discuss our answers like did she ask you this or that, some were funny, some serious but the questions and answers really make you think about things you would never bring up. I think this process will have us more prepared for parenting than anything else. So what next? Our caseworker will write up a summary of our talks, home, and safety inspection, let us review it, and then it will become part of our dossier packet.
We are only on week 2 of waiting for our fingerprints so we have a little time as we prepare the rest of the documents. Hoping & praying for February completion.
Life has a plan but we have no idea what it is....
