2nd homestudy, fingerprints, cooking oh my....

2nd home study down, 1 more to go! I can't believe that soon our home study will be complete and it will be one more thing to check off our list. We had a joint interview with our social worker and it went great, she either thinks we are great fibbers or we are one perfect couple (well we think so) The only thing that I have a problem with and yes I have been to God with it so I guess it's no longer my problem but that issue of birth parents. We were asked how we feel about "letting" our child search for their birth parents and I took the reins on that questions because frankly I have the motherly instincts and it seems to bother me more than Mike. Well anyways I don't want my child searching for their birth parents but I have no problem whatsoever taking them back to their country to explore their heritage, in fact we already talk about how great it will be to visit and learn about Colombia together. Our social worker did explain that in international adoption it is very rare for the birth parents to even be found but as parents we should aid our child in the search if that is what the child wants. I can't say for sure how I will feel years from now when or if the topic arises but either way its out of my hands and that's a nice thing to be able to say.
Oh fingerprints...you would think with my husbands profession this would be an easy task. Not so. FBI is much different than the county department so after chasing down fingerprint cards and Fed Ex mailing centers(actually never found one, went with UPS) they are now securely in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to Bethany this process takes 8-10weeks! This could be the longest part of the dossier packet.

On to something way more fun than paperwork....COOKING! Actually I'm not much of a cook but I saw something fun on another Colombia blog about making a Colombian dish to help transition children and bring some familiarity. Here it is, the famous Spanish dish Arroz Con Pollo.
