Week 2 with our lil gem

Baby L had her 2 week check up on Friday. She has been eating like a little piglet so I knew she had to put on weight but I was shocked to hear that she weighs 9 pounds 8 ounces and she is 22 inches long! This baby never lost a single ounce from birth and in fact she is in the 95% in height and weight.... maybe we have a basketball player on our hands! It still has been difficult in attaining all her records from the hospital and I guess adoption is still not as "popular" as I thought it was. When going through the adoption process no one tells you what it's going to be like after you bring baby home. See the birth mom gets to chose the name on the birth certificate so all her records have to go by that name then when we take her to appointments we use the name we gave her and that throws everyone off. We have parental rights until we go to court which can take up to 90 days and then she will attain a new birth certificate with her first name and our last name. Unfortunately the hospital never sent over tests results to our pediatrician so we had to have them redone and every time we take her to an appointment we have to refer to the birth mom name which is hard I'M her mom she is MY child she just doesn't have my name yet. It's hard I feel like if we weren't with her doctors would just pass her by. Children need a voice and I'm so thankful God choice Mike and I to be it. One day her story will be just that a story and it won't define who she is.
